CST 300 Module 4

Part One: Set Your Educational Goals The number one and most important goal in the CSUMB computer science online program is to finish and obtain a degree in computer science. I never once in my life thought it would be possible for me to have a college degree so the fact that I am one step closer to it is unbelievable to me. But before I can achieve my ultimate goal of completing my degree I will need to start setting smaller goals so that I can take small steps in accomplishing my ultimate goal. I need to start doing an activity list so that I can really focus on what's important. One thing that I read that really interested me in the module reading's was setting  Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time (SMART) goals. These are goals you can track and manage over a shorter time period to see how you are progressing. By keeping low level goals it actually encourages progress since you can attain these goals much faster. One small personal current...

CST 300 Module 3

Part 1.) T ime management and study strategy website   After reading study techniques and looking at time management tips there is 7 step the website gives. The first and most important step is the use of a personal time survey which basically gives you an idea on how much time you spend in all activities. Basically you calculate every single activity from eating, working, sleeping, etc.. and add it all up. Once you have added every single activity up  you now subtract it by 168(total hours in a week). Now with the remaining number of hours you get that is what you will use to calculate your study time.  The second step is a study hour formula which basically determines how many hours a week one needs to study to get A's in their classes. There is always going to be some courses that are more difficult than others so more time will need to be invested in the harder classes. This is something one also has to gauge as well because it will vary per person. Some people ...

CST 300 Module 2

Part 1: Review and Reflect Learning Strategy After reading Effective Study Skills by Dr. Bob Kizlik, the top 3 skills that I think I am the best at is Taking Notes, knowing where to Keep notes and knowing where to Study. When it comes to taking and keeping notes I try to keep everything organized in filing cabinets and labeling my notes per subject. This allows me to easily access the material I need without fumbling through my notes to find the information I need. In regards to taking notes I tend to try and write everything down which can be seen as a double edged sword since it is really time consuming but it helps me retain the information. What's most important as stated in the article is to concentrate on the Main Points. Also having the right study environment is extremely important. If there is many distractions it is easy to lose track of time to the point where now you are out of luck. The top 3 areas I know I am weak in is, not having a proper schedule, procrastination,...

CST 300 Module 1

So this is my first official week as a CSUMB online student and so far it was something I didn't quite expect. The first of many courses is CST 300 which is course that welcomes students into the program and allows students to introduce themselves to there fellow classmates and faculty. The course seems to have more of a focus on writing, communication and team work which is actually a good idea because it teaches us more than just coding alone. Everyone in the class was randomly placed into groups of 4 where we do group assignments as well. Everyone in my group is really friendly and it has made the group work a lot easier. The structure of this class and all classes will be done through canvas which is great for me since I am already familiar with the learning platform. This week I learned a lot about the history of CSUMB and got re-introduced with writing in APA format. I did a ton of research on Aerospace companies for the Industry Analysis Paper. I chose the Aerospace industr...
